March Exhibition Season Kicks Off, Global Fitness Market Shows Signs of Recovery
March marks the first active period of the year for the global fitness industry.
March marks the first active period of the year for the global fitness industry. From Shanghai to Taipei, a series of industry events are taking the stage – from comprehensive foreign trade exhibitions to specialized fitness shows. Meanwhile, fitness events like HYROX continue to gain momentum worldwide, driving significant demand for related equipment. The Runtoway Fitness team, with over two decades of international trade experience, observes two clear directions emerging from recent market dynamics: the rise of specialized equipment driven by the race economy, and product innovation trends showcased at major exhibitions.
Race Insight: HYROX Leads the "Fitness Racing" Trend
As a fitness competition combining running and functional training, HYROX has seen remarkable growth in recent years. Latest data shows that HYROX attracted 550,000 participants globally in 2025, with the 2025/26 season projected to exceed one million. This "fitness racing" model is profoundly influencing sports equipment purchasing patterns – participants now need versatile gear capable of handling both long-distance running and various functional movements (such as sled pushes, rowing, and burpees), rather than single-purpose running or training shoes.
Sports brands are responding rapidly to this trend: PUMA launched a full HYROX collaboration collection in February and extended its partnership through 2030. Adidas, meanwhile, is betting on another emerging event, ATHX Games, releasing specialized hybrid racing shoes in mid-March. The Runtoway Fitness product team notes that this "race-driven equipment upgrade" model is now filtering down from professional athletes to the general fitness population, offering fresh inspiration for fitness equipment design.
Exhibition Preview: IWF Shanghai and TaiSPO on the Horizon
From March 13-15, the 13th IWF Shanghai International Fitness Expo will take place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. As a major platform gathering global commercial fitness equipment brands, this year's expo will showcase the latest developments in cardiovascular equipment, strength training devices, and smart fitness solutions. Notably, several exhibitors are introducing innovative products in the strength training segment – from squat trainers with optimized movement trajectories to plate-loaded strength equipment adapted to Asian ergonomics, reflecting the commercial fitness market's growing focus on "precision training" and "user experience."
Following closely, the Taiwan International Sporting Goods Show (TaiSPO) will run from March 25-28 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. This year's edition debuts the "Motion Vision" zone, focusing on smart technology, health management, and sustainable development – echoing the global fitness market's dual expectations for intelligence and environmental responsibility. According to Grand View Research, the global fitness equipment market is projected to exceed USD 17 billion by 2030, instilling confidence in the industry's steady growth trajectory.
East China Fair Highlights: Innovative Materials and Folding Designs as Key Export Differentiators
At the recently concluded 34th East China Fair (ECF), innovative fitness equipment products also captured attention. Ningbo Bofu Electric showcased a folding walking treadmill weighing just 25kg that can be folded into a suitcase shape, featuring built-in storage and smart APP compatibility – precisely targeting small-space households and younger consumers. Its self-developed composite material combining plastic and glass fiber reduces weight while effectively controlling noise, creating a distinctive competitive advantage.
Runtoway Fitness Perspective
"From HYROX's explosive growth to new product debuts at major exhibitions, we're witnessing a 'refinement upgrade' in the global fitness market – users are no longer satisfied with basic functionality; they seek products better adapted to specific scenarios with greater technological sophistication," notes a Runtoway Fitness spokesperson. "Leveraging over two decades of foreign trade experience, we can quickly capture these market signals and translate them into practical product recommendations and supply chain support for our partners. Whether addressing growth in race-specific equipment demand or the trend toward lightweight home fitness solutions, we have the capability to deliver quality-stable, timely solutions for our customers."
